Area 3

Rocky Ridges

Pewter City valley, buried in volcanic ash

A mining town under ash, with the museum still standing. Rocky Ridges introduces cooking (rescue Chef Dente from a barrel), music (find DJ Rotom in a cave) and the Mood system — you must push the town's mood to 100 to throw the party that becomes the area's story climax. Repeating that party later, with a cannon and fireworks, is how you recruit Volcanion.

Time To Party
In Rocky Ridges, after you have rescued Chef Dente from the barrel it was stuck in, and have found DJ Rotom in a cave, Rotom will be excited about building a town with fun vibes and the two figure out the way to bring Pokémon would be to have a big party, and the request begins. As you get a Party Pot, you need to bring the mood of the area up to 100.
Your first task given by DJ Rotom is to find a CD, which can be found around the area. Bring the CD to DJ Rotom and it will play it. Then, Professor Tangrowth will ask for you to find a Lost Relic (Large) for him to appraise. When appraised, it will ask for you to place it as a decoration for the party.
Next, Rotom suggests finding a Pokémon with the Hype ability such as Ludicolo. Go make the habitat for Ludicolo and bring Ludicolo to the party. With that, Chef Dente then suggests making a Party Platter, so offers the recipe to make it, and asks for you to make 5 with varied meals within. Bring the Party Platters to the Party pot and place them with the food.
The final task is to bring the Mood up to 100. Keep checking with Rotom to find the mood, and keep adding more Lost Relics around, as well as items such as Balloons and even finding more Pokémon with Hype to help bring the points up.
When the mood is there, it's time to cook the meal, which requires you to bring 15 Leppa Berry, 15 Wheat, 15 Beans and 5 Honey, then bring 5 Pokémon including Chef Dente. The party will begin and Volcanion will appear, surprised. It will be happy at the festivities and set off fireworks.

Important Requests are the story quests you work through with Professor Tangrowth and the area’s Pokémon. Finishing one raises the area’s Environment Level and your Trainer Rank.
